Wed 24th August

Hi, comparethebuildingmaterials back again

The job was in full flow today with lots of different trades here today.
We have bricklayers, roofers, chippies, lead specialists and of course the comparethebuildingmaterials.com team.

The bricklayers have been concentrating on the rear retaining walls which are aglite 100mm concrete blocks the blocks are being laid flat and there is 750 aglite 100mm concrete blocks in this tiny length of wall itself.
The 5 tonne excavator, digger that I am driving is only just man enough to actually move these blocks up the gradient to the rear of the garden.

And today we had to move a vast amount round the site. The lead specialist used the comparethebuildingmaterials.com material finder to source the code 5 lead that he needed to dress a parapet wall in the adjoining roofs.

The project manager is back tomorrow and we all have got used to his debutant that stood in for him, he has done a really good job of keeping the job going with building materials as well as man management

Problems with the electric board

Hi guys n girls its Steve here again from comparethebuildingmaterials.com again.

Today we had an interesting day for the comparethebuildingmaterials.com team.

We had in prompt visit from the local electric supplier This caught us all on the hop as we had an idea they were coming to change the transformer in the field, to upgrade this as the client are having 3 phase electric.
So when the guys finally got out of their van they said that they were only going to to the jointing, this was a panic station for us.

The hole which they needed dug was right in the middle of the main road and was going to cause us a mile of trouble. So we set about digging the hole very carefully to find the 75mm cable that was already in the ground, so they could join onto it.

This caused us unforeseen problem, as we had to rush out and buy some ducting for the cable which of course was sourced by comparethebuildingmaterials.com, and we quickly drove to the local supplier that we had found via the mobile version of the site. The comparethebuildingmaterials.com mobile system is so simple and quick, we had to rush to get this job done asap.

When we returned with the cable from the local builders merchants that are a main supplier for groundwork type building materials, we handed the ducting to the electrical engineer and he rolled out the highly sprung coil away from the hole in readiness to cut to length.

Baring in mind that the new building material ducting that is used for the electric board is a very rigid type of material that we had bought, he proceeded to cut with a hacksaw tool, and when half way through the cut , it sprung back and hit him across the eye and cut him.

This was bad news for us as due to the time constraint, as now the 2 electricians had to go to hospital to get the eye looked at.

When they were gone we had time to get the duct in for them and then we had time to go on comparethebuildingmaterials.com site again to find an adequate surface mounted meter box
2 hrs passed and they came back with one of them with glue over his eye and completed the jointing job, and tomorrow we can back fill the hole in the middle of the road with some soft sand and carry on our work.

Strange what a normal day can throw up at you.

Also we never got the torrential rain that was forecast, hope we don’t get it tomorrow.

Over n out peeps, see you soon

Compareman

Another Day @ work for compareman

After the lovely weekend that just passed it was time to go back to work on the tools at the job we have been working on.

The job is in a transition mode now as the developer is now on site almost every day and things now are finally being sorted out.
For those of you that haven't read this blog before , we are working on a large re development in berkhamsptead England, The house is a period building with extensive outbuilding that we are converting.

We are close to the lovely land of Ashridge and we have the company of deer and rabbits on a daily basis running through the grounds of the property.

The clients are the lovely people and have been developing for a number of years now and they are hoping that this will be their family Semi- retirement home.

Today we go the go ahead to start thinking about sourcing building materials for the swimming pool which is now going to be an indoor swimming pool rather than open air.

So tonight we are going to comparethebuildingmaterials for swimming pool features and see what the best price for these comparison of the building materials is.

See you soon . Steve

Scarecrow weekend

Comparethebuildingmaterials.com, scarecrow for the annual scarecrow weekend held in the village of Flamstead. This event was in its tenth year and comparethebuildingmaterials decided to have a scarecrow of the new logo that we have now as our livery on our advertising. The display attracted lots of interest with the children as they loved the confuse look that we have on the builder man. We had good feedback from the general public and we gave away lots of literature, and we are hoping with a good response with lots more visitors to our site.
